Last Saturday, the boys varsity volleyball team finished first in the Dougherty Valley tournament. The team defeated Redwood High School, Dougherty Valley High School, Heritage High School, Pittsburg High School and Irvington High School, only dropping 1 set the entire time. Junior Miles Judd is proud of the success of his team, and hopes to maintain this winning spirit throughout the rest of league.

“We played really well the entire weekend,” Judd said. “We stayed positive and loud which kept everyone’s energy high throughout the day.”

While the team was successful this weekend, they continue to dominate in league, with a current record of 13-0. Judd believes that although the team lost strong players last year, they overcame their losses and now look to continue where they left off last year.

“Since a lot of the team graduated last year it was hard to recover,” Judd said. “We trained a lot the entire preseason and continue to, so now we’re reaping the rewards and are doing really well.”

The team plays next tomorrow at Ponderosa High School, looking to continue their undefeated streak.
