Student government, facing pressure from administration, cancels Sadie Hawkins
March 9, 2018
Student Government cancelled the Sadie Hawkins due to low ticket sales. According to Student Government adviser Brent Mattix, everyone who purchased tickets will get fully refunded for the dance.
“We’re gonna be pulling students in during their lunch period and reimburse them for their ticket,” Mattix said, “We’ll give them the cash they paid for their ticket and we got exactly how much they paid.”
Dance Co-chair Kevria Shill attributes the low sales to the notion that the dance isn’t formal.
“The biggest factor was it wasn’t a formal dance, we were trying to make Sadies a bigger dance and it didn’t work out.” Shill said
Future formal dances are not affected by the cancellation.
