Saturday afternoon, the varsity girls soccer team ended their playoff run with a 1-0 loss to River City in the Division 2 Section Championship. The girls fell due to a free kick from River City early in the second half. They were almost able to force overtime after a shot from junior Mackenzie Gill; Gill barely missed the goal. Fortunately for the Tigers, they broke their way into the regional tournament, securing the number seven seed. Forward Kelsey Gill was disappointed with the loss, but was relieved to make the tournament.

“It would’ve been great to defend our section championship, but we’re all happy that we still made regionals, which was one of my team goals from the start of the season,” Gill said.

Gill also knows the girls will play a dominating team, as their next opponent, the Livermore Cowboys, are the second ranked team in regional.

“It’s not going to be an easy game. It’s going to take the whole team if we’re going to win,” Gill said.

The Tigers will play the Livermore Cowboys tomorrow at Livermore High School at 4.
