Library finishes renovations

After several years of work and planning, most of the Julie Estridge library renovations have been completed.

According to librarian Lauren Zdybel, the renovations began out of a desire to freshen up and modernize the library. She believes that the library’s efficiency as a workspace for students and teachers alike increased with the changes the renovations brought.

“It really needed to be a different kind of space where every area had its own use,” Zdybel said.

Zdybel credited several of her coworkers for their help in gathering funding after the project was approved.

“I started with Mr. Byrd and had a ton of help and cooperation from him and Mr. Wilson,” Zdybel said. “It was really an effort that involved a lot of different people.”

Senior Ashley Blake has experienced the renovations firsthand due to her status as a library aide. She grew used to working alongside the painters and the occasional disruption in the form of a crane.

“It made it kind of difficult to put things away and make sure people saw certain new books and things,” Blake said.

The atmosphere of the library was drastically different following the renovations, according to Zdybel.

“For me, it’s much more efficient. I think for students, it’s much more efficient,” Zdybel said.
