The JV basketball team took first place in the Woodland Buck Bailey Tournament last weekend. They started the tournament beating the Liberty Ranch Hawks 73-34. Their second game was played against the El Camino Wildcats and they came out on top, 70-63.

The championship game was played against the Woodland Wolfpack, and the Tigers won 83-26. In the past six of seven years, coach Bobby Ritter has taken home the championship title.

Sophomore point guard Jaylen Solich felt that the team was able to do so well in their tournament due to the boys’ chemistry.

“A lot of us have been playing together since we were freshman or younger, so I think it has been showing in our play for  his past tournament and games,” Solich said. “Going into the championship game we needed to come out with intensity, which we did, and we ended up being unstoppable.”

Averaging 80 points per game this season, the boys are currently on fire. After the tournament they continued their weekend success, beating the Mesa Verde Mavericks 99-39 on Monday and the Woodcreek Timberwolves 74-39 last night.

They will face the 4-2 Del Oro Golden Eagles next Tuesday in their next game.
