Tigers Fall To Bulldogs In First Away Game

     By Kyle Burger

Last Thursday the Tigers played the Folsom Bulldogs, their first away game of the season. They also suffered their first loss of the season falling 56-8 to the Bulldogs.

“Despite the score some of the players played hard,” said head coach Jaime Bunch. “However, we will need everybody to play hard next week against Oakmont if we want to win.”

Bryce Crouch was the lone scorer for the Tigers.

On Thursday, September 1, the RHS freshmen football team hosted the Rio Linda Knights for the first game of the season. With solid play from the defense, the Tigers came away with a 14-7 victory.

“I think we improved from the jamboree, mainly on the defensive side of the ball,” said Bunch.

The two scores of the game came from starting quarterback Michael Dobler and Brandon Koch.

“I hope to come away with another win, but we need to improve in a couple of areas going forward,” said Bunch.

On Thursday August 25, the team partook in their annual jamboree. They played three scrimmages rotating offense and defense with the other team. Their opponents were Kimbol, Union Mine and Antelope High Schools. Scores weren’t kept, but Bunch came away with high expectations for the team.

“I think everyday we improve,” said Bunch. “As a result we are looking to have a successful season and for the kids to learn the game of football.”
