The varsity girls golf team claimed their second consecutive league championship after placing first in the final CVC League Tournament yesterday.

The team shot 466, outscoring the Whitney Wildcats, who shot 479, by 13 strokes. The Wildcats placed third in the tournament, one spot behind the Ponderosa Bruins, who shot 477.

Senior Kayla Kwong led the Tigers with a score of 74, the lowest score in the entire tournament, which earned her the medalist award.

Coach Corey Fukuman praises the girls’ efforts throughout the 18 hole match.

“The girls deserve a ton of credit as scores were high [yesterday] and they hung in there under pressure,” Fukuman said.

Senior Abby Hall feels that the team went into the tournament with a strong mindset.

“We got to the tournament and felt confident and we knew it was going to be a good day,” Hall said. “We stayed positive and played really well individually and as a team.”
